The activity of the intermediate chemicals division is developed around formaldehyde, which is the base from which –in combination with urea, acetaldehyde, melamine and phenol– solid derivatives (paraformaldehyde, polyols and moulding powders) and liquids (resins) are manufactured.

Product and process innovation
The Technology Center for the Intermediate Chemicals division is located in Tortosa and houses both the R&D and engineering departments. The primary objectives of these multidisciplinary teams are the development of new products and the improvement of production processes.
All production processes within this division operate using proprietary technology, developed at the division’s own Technology Center.
As part of the 3D Plan, the business’s production processes are being adapted to align with its goals of diversification, decarbonization, and digitalization.
The R&D department has developed new products marketed under the ErcrosGreen+ and ErcrosTech brands. These brands are the result of an extensive history of research and development aimed at creating sustainable products with low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, as well as products specifically designed to integrate with new technologies, meet individual customer needs, and satisfy the demanding technical requirements of today’s markets.
