Ercros reduces its global emissions and its direct GHG emissions

In 2022, Ercros' factories as a whole achieved a 12% reduction in their total emissions index, which measures substances emitted into the air and water, as well as waste generation, compared to 2021, and a 5.3% reduction in direct greenhouse gas ("GHG") emissions. These emissions are measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent and are a key indicator for assessing the company's performance against climate change. Aenor verifies Ercros' GHG emissions in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 standard every year.

The reduction of emissions and the adoption of sustainable practices are key elements in Ercros' strategy in its fight against climate change and environmental protection. Its decarbonisation objective, set out in the 3D Plan, is to reduce direct and indirect CO2 emissions from energy consumption by 39% in 2025 (vs. 2020). In 2022, this reduction reaches 25%.

During the past year, the company also completed the Carbon Disclosure Project ("CDP") questionnaire, which aims to assess the climate change implications of the world's leading listed companies. For its part, the Cerdanyola factory joined the Programme of voluntary agreements for the reduction of GHG emissions, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya. In 2022,

Ercros achieved an outstanding score of 84 out of 100 in the international EcoVadis rating, which evaluates the ESG (environmental, social and governance) practices of the companies. This rating places Ercros in the top 1% of companies, which has led to the company receiving the Platinum recognition for the fourth consecutive year.

The company applies a certified environmental management system, based on ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards, which guarantee the implementation of environmental and energy management systems, respectively.
